FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Actor Mark Wahlberg made a stop at Fort Benning Saturday to meet with soldiers and their families.
The actor signed autographs and took pictures as he walked through the Fort Benning exchange.
Wahlberg is currently filming a movie in Atlanta and says he decided to make the drive down to Fort Benning because it is the least he could do in return for soldiers.
"Anytime I see anyone who is brave enough to sign up and fight for our country, it's more than enough to inspire me. It's a beautiful thing," says Wahlberg.
Wahlberg went on to say with what soldiers sacrifice for our country, we should thank them as often as possible.
"For me, it's a sacrifice to be away from my family, but I get to go home quite often, but some people don't ever get to go home. To risk that for our beautiful country is an amazing thing, and everybody should be thanking them as often as possible. We have to create more jobs for our veterans and more benefits. It's the least that I can do," explained Wahlberg.
Those in attendance say they are grateful for Wahlberg's visit to Fort Benning and his support for the troops.
