Bobby Howard named head baseball coach at St. Anne Pacelli High School

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A splash hire was made at St. Anne Pacelli High School.
Bobby Howard was named the new head coach of the baseball team Monday afternoon and Chase Weems will be the assistant Vikings baseball coach.
Howard won 12 state championships with the Columbus High Blue Devils and returns to coaching after retiring last year.
Howard has been recognized as a three-time national coach of the year, ABCA/Diamond Baseball National Coach of the year in 2000, USA Today National Coach of the Year in 2004, ESPN High School Coach of the Year in 2012.
He has been inducted into Columbus State University's Hall of Fame in 1998, the Georgia Dugout Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, the Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame in 2005, the Sunbelt Classic Hall of Fame, and recently selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
"It's a great day to Be A Viking! We are thrilled to welcome Coach Howard and Coach Weems to the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School family," said Ronie Collins, St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School President, and high school principal.
He takes over a Pacelli program that went 5-16 this past season.
