LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs made a special visit to the LaGrange Police Department last week.
The group from Tbilisi, Georgia included decision-makers who are involved in planning and implementing community-oriented policing initiatives in the Republic of Georgia. The visit featured classroom instruction and rides with officers on patrol to observe their community policing efforts in action.
Participants had the opportunity to meet with citizens, civic groups, and business leaders with whom the LaGrange Police Department has partnered with in their outreach initiatives.
The internal affairs groups also met with Mayor Jim Thornton and City Manager Meg Kelsey to see how the police and government work best together.
