FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Fort Benning was the site of a live fire demonstration Tuesday for a new weapon system.
The U.S. Army Armament Research Development and Engineering Center hosted the demonstration to showcase the new stryker weapon system. The system is supposed to increase the accuracy and lethality of the stryker.
Organizers said today's demonstration is also a great way to get feedback from soldiers on the weapon system.
"We have requirements. We create a capability and then prove that it can be done. This is a demonstration of that. We work with the soldiers to get them the feedback and get us the feedback. So, it's a two-way street. They can help inform feedback and then help inform us of where we're going. So that is the effort we have going on here now," said project leader Daniel Pierrez.
The armament research development and engineering center is in New Jersey. The center is in charge of the life-cycle support for about 90 percent of the lethal Army systems used by U.S. Warfighters.
