AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn police arrested a man Wednesday on car burglary and theft warrants.

Jeremy D. Ewell, 23, from Tuskegee is charged with felony unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and third-degree theft of property.

The arrest is a result of an investigation into reports of car burglaries in the 600 block of Dekalb Street on May 6. During one incident, property was reportedly taken to include a purse, keys, cash, and credit cards totaling over $1,500 from a BMW 228i.

Further investigation revealed that one of the stolen credit cards from the BMW was immediately used at a local business which resulted in Ewell being developed as a suspect.

Ewell was taken into custody by Auburn police with the assistance from officers with the Alabama Department of Pardons and Paroles.

Ewell was transported to the Lee County Jail where he remains in custody on a $4,500 bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
