COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The final Columbus 2038 meeting to discuss the future of Columbus was held Thursday night.
The public was invited to Shirley Winston Recreation Center to discuss future needs and opportunities in the community to include, housing, economic development, land use, and transportation.
Those who attended the meeting providing written comments and ranked the priority of what they believe the be the future needs of Columbus. The information gathered at these meetings will be used to develop the city's 2038 Comprehensive Plan.
We want to make sure this gets built into the budget process. So, when council goes through the budget, they will have some goals and direction from our citizens about what they want to see happen," said Rick Jones with the city's planning department.
The plan will shape land use and transportation decision for the next twenty years. It will also be used as a basis to establish financial needs and constraints by developing a capital investment program for the city.
