Pedestrian struck and killed following collision in Upatoi has been identified

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County Coroner's Office is on the scene of a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision in Columbus.

The pedestrian was identified as 32-year-old Reginald Brown from Clearwater, FL. Columbus Police responded to the intersection of McKee Rd. and Macon Rd. just after 2:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Columbus Police add that the driver was headed westbound on Macon Rd., coming down a dark hill, when they struck the victim. The driver reportedly did attempt to avoid hitting the victim but was unable to.

Brown was in Columbus visiting family before he was hit and killed. No charges are being filed at this time.

The cause of death is blunt force trauma. Brown's body will not be sent to Atlanta for an autopsy.
