National Infantry Museum observes paver dedication ceremony on Memorial Day
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A paver dedication ceremony was held at the National Infantry Museum on Memorial Day.
Nearly 185 commemorative granite pavers were dedicated, bringing the total number of pavers on the Heritage Walk to more than 6,000.
The ceremony featured Brig. Gen. David Lesperance, Armor School Commandant at the Maneuver Center of Excellence, as the guest speaker. U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop also made remarks at the event.
Tech Sgt. Yolanda Lakes was one of the soldiers honored at the ceremony for her service to the country, specifically, for her time served fighting the Global War on Terrorism. Tech Sgt. Lakes was deployed to an undisclosed location as she completed her mission.
