AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn ace Casey Mize made school history Monday night when he became the first Tiger selected number one overall in the MLB Draft.
Mize was taken with the first pick of the 2018 draft by the Detroit Tigers.
Auburn's junior righty has enjoyed plenty of success in his time on the Plains. In three years he compiles a 20-12 record, five complete games, 319 shutouts and a no-hitter this past season.
He becomes just the third Auburn Tiger taken in the top 10, the first since Columbus-native Frank Thomas went seventh overall in the 1989 Draft. Gregg Olson was picked fourth by the Baltimore Orioles in 1988.
Mize and the Tigers still have work to do, as Auburn prepares for the Super Regional this upcoming weekend.
