COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Family and friends gathered for the funeral of a Columbus man Friday who died in a hit-and-run accident.

Thirty-year-old Diandre Setalsingh died Thursday, June 7 after he was struck by a pickup truck while walking along Buena Vista Road near Bradley Drive.

Setalsingh's funeral was held at Sconier's Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus. After the funeral, his mother shared her thoughts on his passing.

"It was senseless. He was left on the side of the road like he was nothing. No one should have to die like that. He died alone. He leaves behind three daughters. He was walking home from work," said Setalsingh's mother, Sandra McGruder.

Columbus police say 31-year-old Henry Cobb is the driver of the vehicle that struck Setalsingh. Cobb is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree homicide by vehicle without malice, and unsafe tires.
