COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM)- There's a new addition of ways film lovers can enjoy right here at the springer opera house and today they brought in award-winning animation producer, Jeff Scheetz.
The springer film institute is happy to announce their new addition this spring. This now serves as an educational hub to train the next generation of filmmakers right here in the valley.
The Director of Springer Film Institute, Sara Lynn Herman says, "We're really geared towards adults who have an interest in making films. We have screenwriters, we have cinematographers, we've got butting directors, just visionaries that want to do the craft of filmmaking."
But what's filmmaking without a little animation? Award-winning animator Jeff Scheetz stopped in Columbus to show film lovers the ropes.
"I first came to Georgia about 6 months ago and I was amazingly impressed especially with Columbus and that made me want to get involved, said Jeff Scheetz a Professional Animation Producer.
He says, "Animation really comes down to 3 points and that is making things, actually building computer models and then moving them around over time which is animation. The last part is rendering where we try to position lights."
Filmmaking has brought more than 90,000 jobs across the state of Georgia bringing major economic impact. With Columbus State University's new graphic design program, plus the Fun Motion Picture Academy, Columbus is in the position to play a part in this success.
Sara Lynn Herman said,"How great would it be if we didn't have to go to Atlanta, we could just stay in our backyards and then we could bring it to our community and then our businesses could benefit from it, our hotels could benefit from it."
