COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - City leaders in Columbus voted Tuesday to amend a policy that focuses on safety and access for pedestrians, cyclists, and bus riders.

The city adopted the Complete Streets policy in 2014, but now both a cycling advocacy group and the mayor's office have proposed changes to the existing policy which include creating a committee to inform the public about potential project sites.

Ultimately, the city council approved more changes to the Complete Streets policy, including making the committee report to stakeholders and adopting engineering guidelines for any biking, pedestrian, or public transit areas.
