CHAMBERS COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - The Chambers County Sheriff's Office is offering basic self-defense training to women.

The four-day class gives basic tools and techniques for when or if women are faced with a situation where there is an attacker.

"You don't have to have a background in law enforcement. You don't have to have a background in martial arts or anything like that. It's basically using your God-given weapons to use against your attacker's vulnerable locations," says Macy Whorton, self-defense administrator and administrative assistant for the Chambers County Sheriff's Office.

There is a fee of $15 which isn't for the class itself, but for items for participants such as t-shirts, pepper spray, and snacks.

The class takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Lanett, Alabama. The sheriff's office will also partner with the Lee County Sheriff's office and Auburn University.
