MIDLAND, GA (WTVM) - "I'm in total disbelief. It's like I'm in a nightmare," says Randy Morris.
On a normal day, Kristal Freiberg would be at the park with her children, but today, those at the Northern Little League baseball field in Midland says it's a day full of sadness.
"It's definitely a different kind of day out here today. It's a lot of sadness. Things just don't feel the same. Everybody's struggling," says Morris.
The Muscogee County Coroner's Office says 37-year-old Kristal Freiberg died after her car left the road, ran into a fence, and then crashed into a tree late Tuesday night. One of her closest friends, Heather Ellison, says Freiberg just left the nearby baseball field when they received a call saying she had been in an accident.
"We get a call that she had an accident not even an eighth of a mile down the street here. We get to the scene and she's unresponsive. We immediately try mouth to mouth resuscitation," says Ellison.
Ellison says she believes there may have been some kind of medical issue involved in her friend losing her life and says Freiberg was a true testament of a great mother and friend.
"Her mother and father raised an incredible woman of faith and determination with her boys and they were so proud of her," says Ellison.
"She was such a good person. A great person for our league, a great mom, and a great wife. Just an unbelievable person," says Morris
An autopsy will be performed at the GBI crime lab Thursday.
