LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - Exactly one year has passed since a Troup County Sheriff's Office deputy was critically injured after being hit by a car alongside the interstate.

On June 22, 2017, Deputy Stephanie Masuoka was working the scene of a car accident on I-85 when a tractor-trailer crashed into the scene, throwing her over a guardrail and down an embankment.

Masuoka was hospitalized and underwent months of rehabilitation for her injuries, before returning back to work earlier this spring.

Since her return, Deputy Masuoka has learned that she was chosen as grand marshal for this year's Sweet Land of Liberty Fourth of July Parade in LaGrange.

She has also been named "Deputy of the Year."
