COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A DARE Summer Camp Fun Day was hosted by the Columbus Police Department Crime Prevention Section on Thursday.
The event took place at Fort Middle School. DARE graduates got to enjoy lunch followed by water slides and basketball. There was also ice cream for them to enjoy.
"One thing it does is it gets them off the streets. It also gives them a chance to learn that there are other choices to be made and that is part of our prevention of crime," said Program Director Sgt. Donald Bush. '
The DARE program teaches students how to respect others and choose to lead lives free from violence, substance abuse, and crime.
Thursday marked the seventh year for the DARE Summer Camp Fun Day.
