(WTVM) - In celebration of our nation's independence 242 years ago, several city services will be closed in cities around the Chattahoochee Valley.

In Columbus, trash will not be picked up on July 4. Animal control, the METRA bus service and Recorder's Court will also be closed for the holiday.

Normal bus routes and services will resume Thursday, July 5.

In Auburn, City Hall, the Auburn Public Library and most other city facilities will be closed for the day.

Garbage, trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day throughout the week, meaning Wednesday's trash will be collected Thursday and Thursday's will be collected on Friday.

Over in LaGrange, garbage and recycling pick-up will not run tomorrow and will instead be shifted by one day throughout the remainder of the week.

LaGrange city offices will be closed Wednesday, but open back up on Thursday.
