TAYLOR COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - It's those situations our nation fears--- an active shooter in the building and it's time to take action.
In Taylor County, Georgia, multiple agencies are ready and prepared to save as many lives as possible with new training.
The Taylor County Sheriff's Office along with Butler and Reynolds' police spent the day working in teams and learning ways to attack, engage, and diffuse active shooter and terroristic threat situations. With a nearly 20-acre school campus, there's a lot of ground to cover and assessing threats are strategic.
Georgia Public Safety Training Center instructors are teaching agencies the A.L.E.R.R.T. Terrorism Response Tactics while using mock guns during exercises today.
"We get all our guys together in the training so we know what to do in the event something does happen, whether it be major or minor, we know we will have fresh training and we will know how to react to it," says Taylor County Sheriff Jeff Watson.
