Columbus police searching for vehicle in officer hit-and-run

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Police Department is searching for a vehicle that left the scene of an accident involving a Columbus police officer.

Police say on July 9 at 1:44 p.m. the Columbus Police Department received a 911 call to the intersection of Veterans Parkway and River Road in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving a Columbus Police Officer.

The vehicle in question left the scene of the accident.

That vehicle is described as a silver/gray 1999-2004 Ford Focus that possibly has damage to the driver's side front quarter/fender. The vehicle has dark window tint on all 4 windows.

The vehicle was last seen traveling southeast on River Road towards Hamilton Road.
