(WTVM) - Second time's the charm for Mariah Harrison. Russell County's all-star won the MLB's Pitch, Hit and Run competition in the 9 and 10-year-old softball division Monday afternoon.
They held the finals at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
Mariah finished with the top overall score, earning the first-place trophy ahead of two other girls in her age group.
She earned 75 points in the pitch competition, throwing one strikeout of six attempts.
The Russell County native then smoked the other competitors in the run portion, finishing with 8.9 seconds racing from second base to home. No results were given for her hit portion, but it was enough to give her the edge over the other two competitors.
It was her second appearance on the national stage. Mariah finished runner-up in 2016. Now she can call herself the best in the country in her age group at this competition.
