COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Five burglary suspects have been arrested in Columbus following a two-month investigation conducted by detectives of the Columbus Police Department's Property Crimes Unit.
According to the police department, the suspects were involved in a series of business burglaries in the Columbus and Muscogee County area.
The crime spree began in early April 2018 and continued for approximately two months. The police department says entry was forced into businesses and cash was primarily stolen during the incidents.
Businesses also suffered extensive property damages. Police say the primary tool used to force entry was a large crowbar.
Evidence related to the incidents was collected and a suspect vehicle was captured on surveillance and located in Panama City, Florida by an off-duty Columbus police officer.
An investigation resulted in the arrest of the five suspects with one suspect arrest pending.
Antonio Dunbar, 21, Muriel Allen-Dunbar, 38, and two juveniles ages 14 and 16 are charged with second degree burglary, smash and grab burglary, second degree criminal attempt burglary, and possession of tools during the commission of a crime.
Twenty-two-year-old Josey Melvoid faces the same charges but has not been arrested yet.
Megan Tyra, 23, is charged with hindering apprehension of a fugitive.
