COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus man accused of aggravated child molestation and other related charges had his day in court learning more about his charges.
Dwayne Bowman, 21, pleaded not guilty to felony aggravated child molestation, statutory rape, sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
According to Columbus police, on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 police were called to a home to investigate a possible rape.
When they got there, police said they found a 14-year-old victim who told them she was home waiting on friends for a football game.
That's when D'wayne Bowman also known as "DAE DAE" allegedly came over while she was there alone.
According to testimony in court Thursday morning, the victim and Bowman were just hanging out in the living room where they started kissing.
He asked her to go to her room where we're told he pulled her pants down.
Police say when the victim's parents came home and they found a used condom on the counter.
That's when the father called Columbus police.
A sexual assault exam was performed on the victim at Children's Treehouse.
Bowman's family shed tears while hearing testimony in court.
Because of the nature of the crime, no bond was set in Recorder's Court and the case is being bound over to Superior Court.
