COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Thursday wrapped up the month-long Urban League Summer Youth Jobs Empowering Program in Columbus.

Area sponsors and business partners enabled the Urban League of Greater Columbus to position 50 youth in the community with access to job opportunities. Youth were given the chance to explore and gain exposure in their career interest.

The program also gave participants something positive and constructive to do while providing them with real-life work experience, income, tools, resources, and a pathway to economic success.

"The Summer Youth Jobs Program is an opportunity for kids to work and to do something positive and constructive during the summer. It actually gives them a pathway to economic success. It also teaches them how to be more responsible and how to be more self-sufficient," says Susan Cooper, president and CEO of the Greater Urban League of Columbus.
