COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A candidate for Georgia' lieutenant governor visited Columbus Monday evening.
Democrat Sarah Amico made a stop in the Fountain City in hopes of grabbing votes to take the position which is currently held by Casey Cagle.
Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson alongside State Representative Carolyn Hugley and State Representative Debbie Buckner hosted the rally in Midtown Columbus.
Amico spoke to the crowd about education and accessible health care. She also discussed the number of women who will be on the ballot in November and several other topics.
"From a personal perspective, it's very important to me. Having said that, we haven't had a problem with two men running the state for generations so I don't really think it's unusual. I'm delighted to be on the ticket with all the Democratic candidates including Stacey Abrams who would make a fantastic governor," said Amico.
Columbus was Amico's final stop in her multi-county tour in southern Georgia this weekend. She will face either Davis Shafer or Geoff Duncan in the general election.
