Fort Benning welcomes new Commander for Airborne and Ranger Training
FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - July 24 is a day of change at Fort Benning as the post welcomes a new Commander for Airborne and Ranger Training.
The change of command ceremony took place this morning with Colonel Michael Scarpulla taking over for Colonel Douglas Vincent.
Col. Vincent is staying put at Fort Benning as he transitions to a new position as the Chief of Staff of the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
"There is only one Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade, there is just the one. Since the majority of your combat guys are Ranger-qualified, they have all come through this one brigade," says Col. Vincent. "So, to have been selected for it was a huge honor."
The Colonels were joined by their families after the ceremony, with whom they shared lunch.
