Fort Benning Family and MWR helping active duty families by giving school supplies

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Fort Benning Family and MWR is hosting the annual Back to School Bash on July 27.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and last until noon at the Youth Services Campus at the intersection of Baltzell and Mclver streets on Main Post.

It will be free and is exclusively for the school-age dependent children of active duty service members assigned to Fort Benning.

Supplies will be distributed while they last on a first come, first serve basis, for students in Pre-K through high school. Students must be present and show their military dependent ID to receive a free backpack filled with school supplies.

Those that are 10 or younger are not required to have an ID. Parents or legal guardians must accompany children.

There will also be games, bounce houses, water activities, and refreshments, free health screenings, and information on community resources.

This is an outdoor event, so it is best to prepare for hot weather. Bring sun block, water, umbrellas, and comfort.
