PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Students were awarded scholarships at the annual Mayor's Ball for Education and Charity ceremony in Phenix City Thursday night.
The reception took place at the Martin-Idle Hour Park Community Center.
Each year, support from the community grows as more people attend the ball and provide donations. The event has hosted over 750 people and more than $100,000 has been raised.
Over $40,000 in scholarships from the proceeds of the ball was awarded to 32 students.
"It brings all people from all different walks of life together for common good, a common cause, and to help our community by investing in our young people. That's the greatest part about it is that it's about inclusion. That's what I'm the proudest of," said Lowe.
Including this year's recipients, the Mayor's Ball for Education and Charity has provided 125 students with college scholarships.
