COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police say they are working to heighten the sense of urgency in the unsolved murders the Chattahoochee Valley.
This means working to make arrests and closing pending cases once and for all.
Moving towards a year, Columbus police are still searching for Labrandon Brown, also known as "Big Baby."
He is wanted in the murder of Lavonta Thomas in April 2017 on 24th Street.
Thomas was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital just hours after being shot.
Following a vigil for Thomas, family members report being 'torn apart' by the loss and pleaded for justice.
"We just want justice because for an innocent man to die the way he did wasn't right," spoke Laquoia Arnold, a friend of the victim.
Police say the hunt for Brown isn't an easy chase.
Officers believe Brown has left town, but continue to look intently.
There's a lingering plea by family members to remind the suspect of the consequences of irreversible actions.
"God forgives everybody, but you have to pay for what you did. You did the crime, you got to pay," said Arnold.
Brown also has outstanding arrest warrants for another unrelated case.
If you know about Brown's whereabouts, contact Columbus police at (706) 653- 3200.
Police said if you see Brown, use extreme caution as he is considered armed and dangerous.
