AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - A roast was held in Opelika Friday night for a good cause.

Former Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs was the subject of shots from plenty of his former colleagues at the Greater Peace Family Life Center's annual roast ceremony.

A silent auction was also held and featured autographed Auburn memorabilia and signed pictures of coaches.  The funds from the event will help the Community Development Corporation and Greater Peace, where several programs geared towards helping the community and programs for children take place.

Roasters included Jacob's former principal, Dr. Terry Jenkins, his pastor, Lester Spencer, and Auburn Mayor Bill Ham.

"What we're trying to do here today impacts lives and you know if you want to change the world, inspire a child. I know that this ministry touches adults too as Reverend Jones said but that's what it's all about---how can we impact our own community," said Jacobs.

"I can assure you, being the one up here doing the roasting is a lot better than being the one up here being roasted," mentioned Jenkins.

This year's event marks the fifth year the organization has hosted the event.
