Police investigate separate weekend shootings

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Law enforcement responded to two separate shootings in Columbus Saturday morning, as victims were sent to area hospitals for serious wounds.

In the first incident, Columbus received calls of shots fired on the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard before 4 a.m.

Investigators said the victim, a man, was shot in the arm and leg but is expected to be okay.

According to officials, the victim told Columbus police an unknown vehicle pulled up along side him and opened fire.

The second scene, taking place along Forrest Road and Courtland Avenue. There was police taping on two houses near Forrest Road Elementary School, around 8 a.m.

Early reports indicate a woman was shot in the chest and sent to a hospital for emergency care, as police search for the suspected shooter.
