AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Friday, July 27, Auburn Police arrested three suspects who were from the South Florida area on various charges.

James Rutledge Jr., a 29-year-old, Otis Mounds, age 26, and Eric Barker a 29-year-old were arrested for unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, fraudulent use of a credit card, theft of property third degree, and possession of marijuana second degree.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to an auto burglary call in the parking lot of a business in the 2500 block of Hilton Garden Drive.

In a surveillance video, the officers discovered an individual unlawfully entering a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta taking a backpack, sunglasses, and a wallet with credit cards.

A description was given to officers and shortly, the suspects were contacted by an officer at a business in the 1700 block of South College Street after they used one of the stolen credit cards to make a fraudulent purchase.

The property that was stolen during the burglary was recovered along with a quantity of marijuana when the suspects were taken into custody.

Rutledge and Mounds were each charged with unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, fraudulent use of a credit card, theft of property third degree, and possession of marijuana second degree. Barker was charged with unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, theft of property third degree and possession of marijuana second degree.

They were all transported to the Lee County Jail. Rutledge and Mounds are being held on an $8,500 bond, while Barker remains in custody on a $7,000 bond.
