Columbus High School grad wins national rifle competition
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local high school graduate is about to come face-to-face with President Trump.
17-year-old Jared Eddy recently won the Precision Rifle Competition in Colorado Springs and is scheduled to visit the White House.
Eddy was recently offered a scholarship and will be studying pre-med at West Virginia University.
The young marksman won numerous events during his time at Columbus High School and says he really enjoys the competition.
"It's very tough, very challenging and I like the grinds, the natural grind of it," says Eddy. "You practice a lot just to raise your score by a few points to do well in a competition. There's a lot of very minimal things that matter a lot."
Eddy's biography says he lettered every year in high school and placed second in state championships his senior year.
He hopes to one day qualify for the Olympics and we wish him the best!
