COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - For those looking outside traditional public schooling for their children, more options are open right now.

Registration is open for Georgia Connections Academy, a statewide virtual charter school providing free, online classes for 6-12th graders in every Georgia county.

Executive Director Heather Robinson says that student growth is gradually climbing each year.

"Our school is not homeschooling because our students have to engage in meeting the Georgia Performance Standards," said Robinson. "They also participate in the Georgia Milestones Assessment testing and we follow all the guidelines as any traditional public school."

You can register your student for the free classes until mid-September.
