Man charged with assault and murder following deadly shooting in Americus, GA

AMERICUS, GA (WTVM) - A man is charged with assault and murder following a deadly shooting in Americus, Georgia.

On Wednesday, August 1, officers found the victim, Jarvis Willis, near Mask Road. Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots being fired and a victim lying in the roadway at Mask Road and Greystone Drive at approximately 11:23 p.m.

Christopher Shaun Hale is charged with aggravated assault and felony murder in Willis' death.

An investigation revealed that an armed confrontation took place at Hale's residence in the 700 block of Mask Road.  Willis's body was found nearly 40 yards from the home.

The crime scene is still being processed. The GBI and Sumter County Sheriff's Office Investigation Division are actively attempting to identify additional suspects in the case.
