Bold Moves event honors 23 young ladies in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A group of young ladies was honored in Columbus Thursday night for being smart, strong, and bold.

The annual Bold Moves event sponsored by Aflac and Girls Inc. recognized 23 girls.

The group spent eight weeks working with Aflac on items like resumes as well as the road to college.

The guest emcee for the event was News Leader 9's Brittany Santiago.

"They were kind of hand-picked from Girls Inc. by the Bold Moves committee and they were committed to eight weeks of learning how to have more confidence, learning about their voice, how to get their voice, and just how to prepare themselves for the next journey in their lives," said Mary Ellen Keim, former executive director for Aflac.

"Some of them are really trying to find themselves and find their voice. We try and do activities that help them come out of that comfort zone and give them an opportunity to find that voice," commented Teresa White, president of Aflac U.S.

This is the fourth year the Bold Moves event has been held.
