FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - A 9-year-old boy living with Asperger's Syndrome has been named an honorary sergeant after visiting Fort Benning.
Eli Wilson was given an all-access tour of Fort Benning last Thursday after his grandfather got in touch with post officials.
Wilson got the invite after he told his grandfather how much he admired the Army and wanted to meet a sergeant.
Eli started off the tour by attending a basic combat training graduation at the National Infantry Museum.
Afterwards, he was presented with his own uniform and a patch with a sergeant rank on it.
At one point, Eli led training and oversaw men and women doing push-ups.
Eli's grandpa says he's in awe of the gesture.
Fort Benning Staff Sergeant Christopher Ivy, who was on the tour with Eli, added that while he did have a lot of pride in his job, he has a lot more now.
