GREENVILLE, GA (WTVM) - One man is dead following a shooting early Saturday morning in Greenville, Georgia.
According to the Meriwether County Sheriff's Office around 2 a.m. Saturday morning a party was happening along Georgia Highway 100 and a confrontation began in a grassy area nearby.
During the confrontation, a 25-year-old man from Gay, Georgia was shot. People in the area took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police have also learned that another person suffered a gunshot wound to the face. That individual was taken to a Metro Atlanta trauma hospital and is expected to recover.
Witnesses say that several people involved in the incident got into a truck and drove off. One person got in the bed of the truck and began firing shots into the crowd as they drove away.
Officers responding to the scene saw the truck near the square in Greenville, Ga. That officer along with several others pulled the truck over along Woodbury Highway several miles outside of Greenville.
Dylontae Arkel Carrikter, Johnterrius McGill, and Lance Lavell Hall were all arrested and charged with felony murder. They are being held in the Meriwether County Jail without bond.
This is still an active ongoing investigation with additional charges pending.
"We are asking for all witnesses to come forward and for these senseless acts of violence," says Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith. "Our personnel will not stop investigating this incident until we have covered all that we can."
