PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday for Creekside Early Learning Center in Phenix City.

There was also an unveiling of a commemorative plaque in honor of St. Patrick School's 100 years of educational services.

The 16-acre property, located at 40th Street and Lakewood Drive, includes two buildings---a three-story former convent and a school that was constructed in 2012-2013.

"A lot of our educators actually came through St Patrick's School---a very prominent school that was primarily a K through 8th-grade school for 100 years or so. They've done a fantastic job. We were able to purchase this property, 16 acres and the facility back in May so that we could convert this to an early learning center," said Randy Wilkes, superintendent of Phenix City Schools.

The educational facility consists of offices, 11 classrooms, media center, teacher work area, large common area, and commercial kitchen.
