TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) – The Troup County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted kidnapping in the area of Reed Road.

The child was crossing the road when a man wearing what appeared to be a wig approached her while driving a small white Toyota four-door vehicle.

The man left the vehicle and attempted to grab the child on the lower portion of her leg. The child was able to get away and fell to the ground and screamed.

Relatives rushed to the child and the man told her he was coming back for her prior to leaving the location. He was later seen in the parking lot of the fire department on Reed Road.

The vehicle is described as a small white four-door car, and an unknown make and model. The man is described as white, with long brown hair, down to his ears, possibly a wig. He was wearing a white shirt, white pants, and black boots. He had "older looking skin" according to the minor child. He had no facial hair and appeared to be trying to portray himself as a woman.

The Troup County Sheriff's Office has interviewed an individual who was believed to be a suspect but they feel that he was not responsible for this incident.

The Troup County Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with information regarding a suspicious white vehicle in the area of Reed Road to please contact our investigators at 706-883-1616 or Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
