Muscogee Co. Jail looking for ministers to volunteer

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County Sheriff's Office needs your help coaching people in the numerous programs they provide for inmates and those in need.

Muscogee County Jail Chaplin Neil Richardson says they are in need of volunteers for their ministry programs for both men and women.

He says on Sundays they need more ministers to bring a message of hope to inmates.

They are also looking for more men to join the fatherhood program team, where they teach men how to be good fathers and partners raising children in a better light.

The program also aims to help them take a different path and to not end up back in jail.

Richardson is also involved in several local shelters at Trinity for women and children, Grace for men and The Safehouse.

They need people to become encourage inmates and be a role model all while conducting fun nights of movies, games and fellowship.

They are also looking for volunteers to serve breakfast and lunch.

They enter the jail dorms every Sunday between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and the fatherhood class is taught on weekdays at 10:00 a.m.

If you would like to get involved, you can call (706) 575-1483 or email kneel@safehouse-ministires.com.
