COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Carter Monumental CME Church in Columbus hosted an evening of prayers for schools Sunday, Aug.19.
The service was attended by members of the faith-based community.
Prayers were said for the safety of students and their protection in schools from violence in the world.
Pastor Willett Walker says, "People might say I am not a Christian, but if you have ever said, "Oh God" that is a prayer. They don't have all drawn out. They can be, "Thank you Jesus" That is how simple prayer is."
Muscogee County Schools Superintendent David Lewis also attended today's service.
During the evening of prayer, they also sang hymns.
Pastor Willett P. Waller says this type of community outreach is very important.
