COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus home that many neighbors say was an eyesore has burned down to its frame.
Authorities say a series of explosions led to the fire at a home on 15th Ave.
It belongs to a woman some call a hoarder.
No one was inside the home at the time, but one neighbor says she was right next door when she heard a sound she said she will never forget.
"Actually, it scared me; it was like an adrenaline rush. No one expected it," said neighbor Tamica Dickey. "It was just about five or six explosions, one after another. I'm just glad she wasn't in the house, I don't think she would have made it out."
No other homes were impacted due to the explosion.
Many 15th Ave. residents are pushing for the city to clean up the aftermath as soon as possible.
The city says that a property maintenance inspector will go out Monday, Aug. 20 to determine if the property is eligible for demolition.
