COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – News Leader 9 is spotlighting several children who have been impacted by Piedmont Columbus Regional's NICU.

Caleb Messer was born about nine weeks early and was a little over three pounds, and that's how he ended up in the NICU.

"By the time we got in exactly 24 hours I mean he was born so they had done everything. He was in the hospital a little over 30 days before he got to come home with us," Kevin Messer said, Caleb's dad.

Caleb's mom, Brandy Messer, says the hospital did a great job even though she was frightened.

"These people are top notch. I would put our Piedmont NICU up against anybody in the country, the world," Kevin said.

This is a part of the Children's Miracle Network Mediathon that starts on Aug. 22.
