Columbus police arrest second suspect in deadly Pizza Hut shooting

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A second suspect has been charged in a fatal shooting that happened at a Pizza Hut in Columbus.

Dover Coppins, 24, is charged with murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the murder of 32-year-old Branden Denson.

Eric Spencer is the first suspect to be arrested for involvement in the case. He was taken into custody on May 4.

On April 6, 2018, police were dispatched the Pizza Hut on Buena Vista Road in regard to a person being shot. Upon arrival, Denson was found dead from a gunshot wound.

Coppins was booked into the Muscogee County Jail. His Recorder's Court hearing is scheduled for Thursday, August 23 at 9 a.m.
