COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County School District is still trying to resolve school bus issues. Delays or buses not showing up at all are causing big problems for some parents and students.

It's day 12 for the new school year in Muscogee County and some parents are still calling News Leader 9 frustrated about their child being left at the bus stop, or their bus driver picking them up extremely late.

The district admitted there is a problem, but says it's mainly on the north side of town where construction and congestion are hampering drivers from getting in and out of traffic.

"Our drivers are really dedicated to what they do.  To be honest with you, I couldn't be more proud of the ones that I do have and I assure you this will get fixed," says transportation director Herbert Hill.

Hill says they are in the process of making some changes to avoid delays, going from three tier to two tier routes. This has resulted in a change from pickup and drop-off times.

They're also actively recruiting more drivers to fill 8 to 10 vacant slots.

If you would like to apply, go the Muscogee County School District's website.
