HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - One organization continues to give back as the help disabled veterans today.
Wake for Warriors helps connect injured military veterans with a passion for water sports.
Today veterans and their families went wake surfing on Lake Harding and enjoyed some water and sun.
The goal of the program is to promote healing of emotional and psychological wounds through an environment of worry-free days on the water.
Donald Pilcher a 23-year-old Marine veteran says it is all about bringing people together.
"Some of our injured Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines they can feel a sense of loneliness. Like what next? How do I get past this? When you surround them by other people with similar people that can help them pick up the pieces of their life," says Pilcher.
Wake for Warriors has been around since 2011.
The boats and equipment are provided by local Lake Harding residents along with meals.
