COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A nonprofit organization in Columbus is extending its outreach efforts outside of the United States.
Overflo Outreach Ministries is taking its first humanitarian mission trip to Uganda, East Africa. Overflo Outreach along with Columbus Barbers United is collaborating with The Soul of My Footprint Inc., to make the trip happen.
The goal of the trip is to share expert knowledge and professional techniques for hair care and hygiene with Ugandan people. They will also mentor and train individuals in the villages that they visit.
Gerald and Catosha Riley, founders of Overflo Outreach and Columbus Barbers United, have impacted the community through generous donations of their time, professional talent, and financial resources.
"It's our community that backs us. The clients have been so good with us asking for donations and writing checks, because they believe in the mission work that we do and our community first. So, we are very grateful for that," said Gerald and Catosha Riley.
The trip to Uganda will be from Sep. 16 to Sep. 24.
To make a donation to help with travel and lodging, checks can be made payable to 'Overflo Outreach Ministries' and sent to 107 8th Street Columbus, GA 31901. To donate online, click here.
