PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – A Phenix City Schools Board of Education member resigned prior to the referendum election that was held on Tuesday, August 28.
City officials say John Donahue is citing "personal reasons" for stepping down.
Donahue has been on the board since 2016. The cite says council members will nominate candidates for the open position and the current five board members will interview the candidates.
Board President Dr. Mesha Patrick, Board Vice President Reverend Brady Baird, Patricia Alexander, Fran Ellis, and Will Lawrence round out the list of current board members.
Another board spot is also open following the controversial ousting of board president Paul Stamp several months ago.
