United Way launches 2018 fundraising campaign
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley announced its multi-million-dollar goal to benefit nonprofits across the area.
A crowd of nearly 1,000 people attended Thursday's fundraising kickoff luncheon at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. The United Way's goal is to raise $7 million for the 2018-2019 campaign.
Randy Burt, district manager of Publix and United Way campaign chair, said this year's theme is 'United We Win," stressing the importance of working together as a community.
"Our message to these folks today is inspirational and lets them see all the great work that these partner agencies are doing to make this community a better place to live. Hopefully, they will leave touched but energized to raise some money," said Burt.
Funds raised during this United Way campaign are invested in dozens of local programs to help those in need with health, income, basic needs, and education.
