Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal declares Georgia Blood Donation Day

(WTVM) - Georgia Governor Nathan Deal is falling in the line with other governors looking to help blood banks.

In response to the blood shortage crisis, governors across the United States have honored the request of the American Red Cross to proclaim a state blood donation day.

Gov. Deal has declared Wednesday, Sept. 5. as Georgia Blood Donation Day.

National Blood Donation Week is Sept. 3-10.

Alabama's day for blood donation is also Sept. 5.
